I got another job, in The Works, it's a book/art supplies store in Banbury, and i have my first day at McDonalds today, looking forward to it, start at 11. We'll see how it goes. Got my final logo draft for college, it's looking pretty cool now. Starting on my poster designs, they're looking pretty good. And we don't have Mr. Pete for a while, so no boring falling asleep in Contextual Studies. Went to Birmingham on Thursday night, to see my friend's band Whistler play. You should check them out... Now Birmingham is a few cones poorer too. I got one sitting on my tv like a hat, and it's got a light on top too. :P

Oct 1st

Had my first day on the job today. It was quite good fun, just a general tour really... met a lot of people i knew from school that are doing the same thing, working & at college @ the same time. It's not great pay, but it's better than nothing. I get paid on the 11th, so we'll see how that goes.

In other news... My sketchbook for college has gone walkies... which means i got a helluva lot of work to catch up on. Oh fuck.

I've even got 20 Typography designs to do for tomorrow. joy. hehe.

Hey

I finally got a job, it's nowhere special, but a job nonetheless... or should i say a McJob. hehe. yeah, that's right... McDonalds. Oh well, only for a while eh. I've had a rather uneventful day, and i'm making progress on my logo designs for the course, they're starting to look pretty cool. Hoping to have a finished design by next week, that i can develop into a final identity idea. :)

In other news, me and Liz are going well, 8 months on Sunday, and blog, don't frown at me like that, i know i've neglected you and i'm sorry.

At least now i'll have some money and can sort the Glassbowl Media site out. Which, might i add, i've wanted to do for ages now, since the end of July at least.

One of my closest friend's friends has died, so my hopes and wishes are with her this week, and i know (and believe) that she is strong enough to get through it.

I hope you do sweetheart, you don't deserve to be so sad, you're too good a person for that.

Anyway, i must be off,

I shall return soon with Graphic Design work hopefully.

So we now have 3 projects to do,  A Poster, A logo & A Typography project. I have a feeling we'll get an illustration project today as well. joy.

Living Arrangements

Well, it's looking more & more like i need a place to live.... i got about a week now to get a job, or mum's kicking me out. Isn't that great? Bearing in mind i have nowhere to go, i'm gonna have to leave college and get a full time job, therefore fucking any chances of me getting any kind of education/degree/decent job in the future. Basically, just pissing my life down the drain.

This really sucks, because i love college, it's so much fun, and i've finally found the course i belong on. I know it's only 1 day a week i need to work to stay in the house, but i just cannot find a job. at all. I have no idea what i'm gonna do, but i need to sort something out, because i am NOT leaving college just because of them. I'm not gonna let them ruin my life. It's not theirs to ruin anymore.

Never know, could be Blogger's first Homeless Blog before long. We shall see.

i need to find a job, i got like 2 weeks... gonna go look @ sainsbury's tomorrow. I just really need one, because i want to carry on with college, i'm having a lot of fun at the moment.

College work is progressively harder every day, but it's also more fun every day. lol. I did however, spend most of the day watching music videos.... Pantera (Y)

The Weight

It's been a very long time since me and Emma spoke last... And now i've finally apologised, i feel like the world has lifted off my shoulders. To be perfectly honest, i never really took responsibility for what i did, but i'm glad i have now.

I suppose it's good it happened, because if it didn't then maybe she wouldn't of met Kris, and those two seem so happy together now, and why even contemplate disturbing that. The same goes for Elizabeth and I. I really don't know what i'd do without her.

Me and Emz had good times, and good laughs, and that's what REALLY counts.

And she knows she'll always have a friend in me.

Logo Research

A legendary logo, internationally famous now. It has clear, simple symbolism, and you can understand straight away it's about people, and brings that whole social aspect into play. Apart from the fact that MySpace is now a world-renowned brand, the logo is accompanied by the 'myspace' text, just to make it even clearer.

2012 Olympics Logo Views

The colours... are all WRONG! This is possibly one of the worst logos i have ever seen, remeniscent of old tv programmes, and just generally bad design. Okay, so it's eyecatching... so what, it isn't eyecatching in a good way.

On the other hand, i suppose it would be reuseable as you can scale it down/up and mess around with it.

When i look at this logo, i see £400,000 absolutely wasted on nothing. You'd expect Wolff Olins (who did the old BT trumpeteer logo) to do something a bit more... substantial than this to be honest.

I do however think it is good that they kept the 5 rings, to get rid of that, would get rid of the very symbolic message of the Olympics itself.... they represent union, and togetherness of many countries. Right back to the Athenian/Spartan war.... they stopped fighting, just for the Olympics, then continued again... It's the one time every four years where countries can unite as one.

I fail to see how this new logo represents that spirit... it's just shoddy and tacky design, bearing in mind they were commissioned to do this last year, and this is all they can come up with?

Personally, i think they've lost their touch. But hey, that's just my view.]

Wolff Olins... the way of the future? I think not.

My Recovery Injection

Just about recovered from the gig now, i have to look for a job though. I think i'll dedicate the next few days to getting one. lol.

It's my friend Smash's birthday today, so we're gonna go see him later, blatantly have some fun with that. lol.

it's the only one that has moderately good layout... it'll do for now until i make one. lol.

Anyway, a bit about me, i'm 17, and am currently enroled on a BTEC National Diploma course in Graphic Design, at OCVC College, Banbury. It's rather good fun, just on my lunch break at the moment. This blogging thing really is rather fun. lol.

I have my own media company, Glassbowl Media, which i've run from a young age, we specialise in Commercial Art, Posters, Logos, Flyers, Websites, Corporate Imaging of any kind, Stationary... you name it, we can probably do it.

I have several influences as a designer, for example, Saul Bass, David Carson, Tado & Neville Brody. I have been influenced by Garamond in typography, and would STILL love to know who designed Georgia. lol.

Anyway, that's enough from me for now, i'll check back soon, also, expect to see an online portfolio of my NDGD work VERY soon.
